Randomness

Elliot and Aaron both wanted a turn with a toy. Aaron, being his first grader self, decided that "eeiny meeiny miny mo" would be a random way to select the winner. Of course, every time he did it it landed on, surprise, Aaron. So Elliot decided to try his hand at it and said, "Eeiny meeiny mo, a tiger says rah rah rah, my mother says give me that toy right now!"

Crawling

Libbie has been scooting/worming herself around for awhile now, but this week she started crawling on hands on knees. It's pretty adorable. Here are a few snapshots of her crawling. I have a video but I need to edit it because it took her awhile to actually get going.

Book Eating

We try as a family to read the scriptures every morning, which means at breakfast since that is really the only time we are all together most days. Yesterday Elliot found a Book of Mormon lying around and said, "Hey! A Book of Mormon! We eat cereal with that."

Midway Fun

I questioned my parents' choice to move to the middle of nowhere, Utah a few years ago. But I have come to really love their new home and area. It is a wonderful escape from NYC life. Here are a few fun things we did in their little town back in August.

A nearby resort had a free carnival event with face painting, balloons, mini golf, carousel, and food. Here's Aaron with his Joker face (which I tried to dissuade him from getting, with no luck obviously), cool hat, and corn dog.

Elliot was extremely pleased with his face paint job. He kept going over to the face painting table to look in the mirror and check himself out. At home, he would run into the bathroom to check out his face and when he couldn't get to one, he'd look at me with a smile (practically batting his eyes) and say, "Where's my Spider Man?" I let him keep it on the next day and then we had to wash it off that night. He took it pretty well.

Our friends the VTs from NYC were also in Utah at the same time and joined us for the event. Everyone had so much fun that we went again the next week.

When you drive down Main Street in Midway, there are flags hanging from the lights that say, "Home of Swiss Days." I always wondered what Swiss Days were like. This year we finally got to attend. It turns out Swiss Days is basically a big collection of people selling crafts, with some really incredible yodeling and alphorn performances and bratwurst thrown in the mix. My boys enjoyed the performances and food the most.

The average age of people watching the performance was about 55, with a median of more like 65. I thought the boys looked so cute among this crowd. (That's their cousin Gabe sitting with them.)

Libbie and her cousin Evie enjoyed the concert in their own way as well.

Another main attraction of the area is the "Heber Creeper," an old-fashioned train that creeps around the mountains. Our trip wouldn't be complete without a trip on that.
